Vixen R130Sf-Skypod Telescope

The lightweight Vixen R130Sf-Skypod Telescope is a favorite of many new astronomers because it features remarkable light gathering with sharp images for its price and size. With a standard 20mm Ploessl, more than the entire moon fills the eyepiece. You'll view innumerable star clusters and dark clouds, not to mention nebulas and galaxies. Add a 32mm and the heavens open up with a remarkable 2.5 degree field of view! All of the stars in the Pleiades can be viewed at the same time. The visual observer will enjoy wide views of deep sky objects. Actual groups of nebula or clusters can be viewed at the same time with this instrument. The R130Sf comes standard with the 6x30mm finder and dovetail tube plate that fits very well on all the Vixen mounts. Attach it to the Skypod and you have a great 130 mm telescope and a versatile GoTo mount. The Skypod is a unique portable alt-azimuth computer controlled "Go To" mount that evolved from the very successful Vixen Sphinx mount. The Skypod incorporates a compact computer controlled Alt-Az system that automatically slews the telescope from one object to another. The 22,000 plus object data base provides an endless variety of objects to view and is upgradeable. This new and portable GoTo travel mount uses the modified Starbook S hand controller that offers the same practical user concept of the Sphinx controller. A display will show you a map of the sky so that you always know where you are. The controller is integrated into the mount. You can take it off for remote control, but you can always put it back for save storage and transport. This means that for transport you can avoid all the separate small parts that are otherwise easily lost.
